He shined his flashlight around, looking for valuables when a voice in the dark said, 'Jesus knows you're here.' He nearly jumped out of his skin, clicked his flashlight off, and froze. When he heard nothing more, he shook his head and continued. Just as he pulled the stereo out so he could disconnect the wires, clear as a bell he heard 'Jesus is watching you.' Startled, he shined his light around frantically, looking for the source of the voice.  Finally, in the corner of the room, his flashlight beam came to rest on a parrot. 'Did you say that?' he hissed at the parrot. 'Yes', the parrot confessed, then squawked, 'I...

Most of them comic stories and farce.. His stories were published in weekly magazines and newspapers to help pay his bills while he studied.  Death of a Civil Servant (1883) Ivan Dmitrich Kreepikov was sitting in the second row and watching The Chimes of Normandy through opera glasses one fine evening. Mr Tobias was yelling, ignoring the fact that about half a dozen kids were sprinting towards the bushes to tear off branches for his use on me, he was stamping the ground, like a kid in the middle of a tantrum. The balcony of the female quarters  was packed with female spectators, watching the drama unfolding on our football pitch.  Embarrassed, my heart racing, I picked up the pace of my walk towards him, determined to reach him before anyone handed him what he was screaming for.. I didn't want someone thrusting a tree branch into his hands as I re...

It was that much harder when it's a co-educational institution and there are pretty teenage girls in the block next to your football pitch. You feel awkward and clumsy. It seemed like everyone was watching, assessing and judging you. You're acutely aware that girls your age seem older and more mature, they often stared out of their dorm window as we practised. Giggling when, once in a while Tobias would fling an insult our way. The pretty ones especially make it their business to stand there on the balcony and gawp. On t...

(This is a work of fiction, any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental) Chapter 1 Over a period of months when I was in boarding school, the relationship between my housemaster and I had deteriorated to an extent that I felt Mr. Tobias had it in for me. Incidents between Mr. Tobias and some of the other students, quite a few of them pals of mine, had not helped matters one bit. I remember one incident when a close friend, tired of our housemasters bullying and harassing us, set him up. It happened on the last night of the previous term.  Knowing that he wasn't coming back the next term, Jabo taunted the man as he walked by behind the dormitory and provoked him into a proper fight. I...

"Yes, Father, it is."  "And who was the girl you were with?"  "I can't tell you, Father. I don't want to ruin her reputation."  "Well, Joey, I'm sure to find out her name sooner or later so you may as well tell me now. Was it Tina Minetti?" "I cannot say."  "Was it Teresa Mazzarelli?"  "I'll never tell."  "Was it Nina Capelli?"  "I'm sorry, but I cannot name her."  "Was it Cathy Piriano?"  "My lips are sealed."
