Free Your Mind.....

Does anyone remember this quote "Free your mind and your ass will follow"? Well I do, and I constantly remind myself of it so that I can rise above petty jealousies, prejudices and negative vibes. None of us is perfect as human beings but we have to make that special effort to recognise the flaw in ourselves and adjust accordingly.

It is even harder nowadays to do, because human aspiration changes with time and conditions. What we thought was most important to us ten years ago may not necessarily be the case now. Sometimes it is because our objective has changed in the first place or we have realised the goals previously set and it is only natural to set the next goal.

Due to revolutionary changes in information technology where virtually anything can be obtained or information accessed via the internet, our value system cannot but be affected by the number of things now available online.

Any new technology will always benefit us and can bring immense satisfaction and joy into our lives if used productively and wisely. On the other hand, our values can end up watered down due to the availability of anything one desires online.

While a lot of us are using the new technologies to do productive and worthwhile things in order to better ourselves and those around us. Others have even gone and taken the technologies that little step further and carved out their own little niche within what is available out there.

A small minority are using it exclusively for negative stuff, like carrying out scams and abusing people's trust. Dismayingly, some good people have blamed the victims of these scams instead of the perpetrators. How can one blame someone for trusting? What kind of a world do we want to leave for our children if because of material gain or loss, we eradicate trust altogether on our planet. Will God be pleased? I don't think so.

I would gladly lose a few British pound sterling (if I had any) to scammers and con artistes rather than lose my faith in the human race altogether. What hurts me the most is if the person who has conned me is someone I consider very close such as a close friend or a family member, but I would not be for long, my discomfiture would be for the con artiste since they would have made themselves look like a midget in my eyes. It would even be harder for me to be comfortable in the company of such a person ever again, so whatever their gain in the first place, that would be it, forever.
If a close friend or relative would rather scam someone who loves them rather than ask for help, it means they are trying to convince themselves they are intelligent whereas they are not. How can you match wits with someone whose guard is completely down because of their affection for you? It is worse than being scammed by a total stranger because of the cowardly way it has been carried out. This is a sure sign of an inferiority complex in perpetrators of such disgraceful behaviour.

Finally, the quote "free your mind and your ass will follow" if turned on it's head e.g "free your ass and your mind will follow" would never happen as the mind kind of tends to stay with the ass in some circumstance but can also roam, and therefore no freedom can be expected. Both the mind and the ass is then enslaved to mundane and fleeting pleasure . If you know what I mean......

Stay cool friends,

yours truly,

'Bodederek
